ORGANISATION OVERVIEW: The India Student Hub falls under the umbrella of the Embassy of India, Washington DC and enables students to participate in India’s development. The Student Hub is an innovative, dynamic, relatively independent youth team seeking to help India build substantive bridges via education. The Student Hub thrives on student-led, student-run programming and opportunities to develop leadership among students. In addition, the Student Hub facilitates partnerships with U.S. universities and administrators to strengthen knowledge partnership between India and the United States, to seed robust cross-border research and academic collaborations, and to rally improvements to the educational ecosystems in both countries.

PROJECTS:

(1) Women’s Leadership Program

PROJECT GOAL: The Women’s Leadership Program aims to nurture (a) personal, societal and civic responsibility, (b) an entrepreneurial mindset, and (c) principled next generation leadership for Indian women across the globe

PROJECT OUTCOMES:
+ Collaborated with a team of 4 volunteers to research existing women's leadership development programs across the globe, and derive best practices
+ Co-developed a 10-week leadership program aimed at equipping young women with entrepreneurial skills and become purposeful leaders who inspire and motivate those around them with integrity and empathy
+ Led 2 sessions a week (8 participants) focused on developing emotional intelligence, increasing self-awareness, understanding leadership styles, building networks, managing conflict, and developing project proposals

(2) Climate & You - Climate Action Program

PROJECT GOAL: The aim of the Climate Action Program is to communicate how the climate crisis impacts people and their communities. The program hopes to educate volunteers on the issue of climate change at three levels: (1) individual-level responsibility, (2) India’s domestic efforts, and (3) India’s multilateral efforts

PROJECT OUTCOMES:
+ Co-developed the curriculum for an 8-week program focused on: educating participants about climate change; reducing one’s environmental footprint; Indian and U.S. policy efforts to address climate change; and how to critically assess environmental policies
